About Me
Welcome,
I have a Masters of Social Work (MSW) from the University of British Columbia and am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the British Columbia Association of Social Workers.
In my work I feel honoured to be able to support clients and families through hardships and some of the most difficult times in their lives. I function as a support person, and I provide a safe place to begin the process of working out fears while empowering my clients and their families to discover each owns inner strength.
I believe we are each powerful beings, but at times we lose track of who we are or who we want to be, often due to difficult experiences we have faced. Experiencing violence, the death of a loved one, the loss of mobility, supporting a loved one with a brain injury, witnessing a motor vehicle accident, and navigating the medical system are some examples of experiences where we can all lose focus and may need outside support and perspective.
I hope to provide that outside support and perspective to promote healing, to gain emotional relief, and to help you learn to walk a path toward a more balanced life. I hope to help you explore the ‘hidden’ issues, by validating your experiences, and by engaging you in therapeutic supportive counselling.
Your concerns may be resolved in as little as one session, or you may require more sessions as needed. No matter the length of the journey, I am committed to providing a comfortable, non-judgemental space, where the healing can begin.
Thank you,
Sophia Hunter
